Our FRP Rebar is a sustainable, lightweight, high strength, rust proof alternative to traditional steel reinforcement. Comparatively, it’s only 25% the weight of steel, and has a Specific Tensile Strength that is 2.5 times greater! This equates to enhanced Jobsite safety and ease of installation with significant savings in transportation and handling costs.
FRP’s are made from E-Glass (or electrical grade glass was originally developed for standoff insulators for electrical wiring. It was later found to have excellent fiber-forming capabilities and is now used almost exclusively as the reinforcing phase in the material commonly known as fiberglass) and Basalt (a material made from extremely fine fibers of basalt, which is composed of the minerals plagioclase, pyroxene, and olivine. … It is used as a fireproof textile in the aerospace and automotive industries), both have a Coefficient of Thermal Expansion similar to concrete.
